Reliance Industries Stock Climbs 1.4% After Q1 Results

Reliance Industries shares rose 1.4% to ₹1,345.90 on Monday, testing its 100-day moving average following recent quarterly earnings. The movement reflects improved market sentiment, with support noted near the ₹1,300 level. Investors are focusing on the performance of the oil-to-chemicals business and the growth of the new energy division.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) shares saw positive momentum on Monday, rising 1.4% to reach an intra-day high of ₹1,345.90. This price action comes following the company’s first-quarter financial results, which were released after market hours on Friday. The stock’s move allowed it to test the 100-day moving average at ₹1,342, a technical level it had not challenged since early May 2026.

Business Drivers and Performance

Market interest in the stock remains centered on three primary business segments. The company has seen signs of recovery in its core oil-to-chemicals (O2C) business, which has historically been a significant contributor to overall revenue. Beyond this, investors are tracking the valuation and growth potential of Jio Platforms, as well as the progress of the company’s new energy division. The gradual ramp-up of the new energy segment is a key area of interest, as it represents a major part of the company's long-term capital allocation strategy.

Technical and Derivatives Context

From a technical perspective, the stock has recovered nearly 5% from its July 8 low of ₹1,272. By moving above the 20-day exponential moving average, which previously acted as a hurdle, the stock has shown signs of building bullish momentum. On the longer-term weekly charts, the stock has maintained its position above the 200-week moving average, a level that has acted as a support zone for the past five weeks.

Derivatives data for the July series suggests that the recent price increase was supported by short covering, where investors who had previously bet against the stock closed their positions. Furthermore, options market data indicates a significant base of put writing at the ₹1,300 strike price, which suggests that many market participants view this level as a strong support area for the near term. Analysts have noted that ₹1,360 remains an immediate resistance level to monitor.

Investor Monitorables

For investors, the primary focus remains on the operational execution of these business segments. While the technical setup shows a recovery from recent lows, the sustainability of this trend will depend on whether the company can continue to improve its profit margins in the oil-to-chemicals segment and successfully scale its newer energy investments. The next phase of progress will likely be clearer in future quarterly updates, where investors will look for evidence of consistent revenue growth and efficient cost management across these diverse business units.
