PB Fintech posted a 43% jump in consolidated net profit to ₹192 crore for the second quarter of fiscal 2027. The company's UAE operations are expanding rapidly, with premium run rates reaching ₹2,258 crore as it moves beyond motor insurance to offer health and life products for non-resident Indians.
PB Fintech, the parent company of the insurance aggregator platform PolicyBazaar, reported a strong performance for the second quarter of fiscal 2027. The company’s consolidated revenue grew 35% year-on-year to ₹2,178 crore, while net profit climbed 43% to reach ₹192 crore, reflecting operational efficiency alongside business expansion.
A significant driver of this momentum is the company's international operations, particularly in the UAE. Since its entry into the region in fiscal 2019, PB Fintech has successfully scaled its presence, reporting a 19-fold increase in premium volumes since fiscal 2022. The UAE insurance premium run rate now stands at ₹2,258 crore, marking a 36% year-on-year increase for the second quarter.
Expanding Beyond Motor Insurance
While the company initially gained a foothold in the UAE by leveraging its expertise in motor insurance, it is now shifting focus toward more diversified offerings. This strategy targets the large non-resident Indian (NRI) population in the region. The company is rolling out specialized health and life insurance products that facilitate cross-border needs. Key features include cashless claims of up to 1 million AED and the option for policyholders to port their coverage back to India without the typical waiting periods. This move is designed to make the company's insurance solutions more sticky for the NRI segment, aiming to increase the lifetime value of its customers.
To support this growth, the firm is deploying loyalty programs such as PB Royalty and PB Advantage, which offer incentives like service discounts, excess waivers, and referral rewards. These initiatives are aimed at improving customer retention in a market where competition for the retail insurance consumer remains high.
Investor Context and Risks
While the international expansion offers a new growth engine, it also brings specific business challenges. Operating in foreign insurance markets involves navigating complex regulatory frameworks that differ significantly from domestic Indian laws. Success in these markets will depend on the company's ability to maintain high service standards and underwriting quality, which are crucial for long-term profitability. Additionally, the company faces competition from both established global insurers and local players in the UAE, who have deep roots in the region.
Investors may note that while the current expansion is contributing to the bottom line, international operations typically involve higher customer acquisition costs and setup expenses. The durability of this growth will depend on how effectively the company can convert its motor insurance user base into health and life insurance policyholders. The company's future performance will be determined by its ability to scale these new product lines, manage the regulatory compliance of cross-border financial services, and sustain its current growth trajectory in the competitive UAE market.
