Investor Confidence and Funding Details
Namdev Finvest Private Limited has successfully closed a significant funding round, raising $37 million (approximately Rs 324 crore). The capital infusion comprises a mix of listed non-convertible debentures and external commercial borrowings. Key international investors participating in this round include FMO, which contributed $20 million, and Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), investing $8 million via its Women’s Livelihood Bond 7. Franklin Templeton AIF India added $2.3 million, and Symbiotics invested $6.5 million.
Strategic Expansion and Impact
The primary objective of this substantial funding is to fuel the expansion of Namdev Finvest's micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) lending business. The NBFC will concentrate its efforts on underserved rural and semi-urban areas across India. This strategic move aims to enhance access to timely credit for MSMEs, women-led businesses, youth-driven ventures, and emerging entrepreneurs, all of whom often face significant hurdles in securing financing.
FMO's Director, Juan Jose Dada Ortiz, highlighted the investment's role in advancing financial inclusion, stating it will enable thousands of micro and small entrepreneurs, particularly women-led and rural businesses, to access necessary credit for growth. IIX’s MD and CIO, Robert Kraybill, noted that the Women's Livelihood Bond 7 mobilizes capital for enterprises like Namdev Finvest, empowering women and girls while fostering financial inclusion for women-led MSMEs in India's rural and semi-urban markets.
Jitendra Tanwar, Managing Director and CEO of Namdev Finvest, expressed confidence that this backing from global institutions validates the company's governance and long-term vision. The funds will support responsible scaling and deepen the impact in its operational regions, enabling the continued empowerment of MSMEs and women entrepreneurs with affordable credit. Namdev Finvest currently operates across nine states, primarily in Tier III cities, serving MSMEs, vehicle owners, solar customers, and women entrepreneurs through partnerships with various financial institutions.
