GIFT City Ties Up With Vietnam’s VIFC-DN, Tata Communications

GIFT City has signed new partnerships with Vietnam’s VIFC-DN to share financial hub expertise and with Tata Communications to boost Global Capability Centers. These moves aim to accelerate the growth of India’s IFSC by attracting more tech and treasury firms while fostering urban and academic development.

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s designated international financial services hub, has announced new strategic collaborations to broaden its international reach and strengthen its domestic ecosystem. On Tuesday, the financial hub formalised a partnership with the Vietnam International Financial Center-Da Nang (VIFC-DN) to exchange knowledge and best practices for developing competitive financial districts.

Building Global Financial Ties

The collaboration with Vietnam is designed to support the development of Da Nang as an emerging financial destination. Having established India’s first and only International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), GIFT City plans to share its experience in policy framework, digital infrastructure, and fintech integration with its Vietnamese counterpart. The partnership is expected to cover professional training and cross-border investment opportunities, potentially creating stronger business corridors between the two nations.

Strengthening the Tech and Educational Ecosystem

Beyond its international efforts, GIFT City has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Tata Communications and CEPT University to improve its infrastructure and service offerings. The agreement with Tata Communications is aimed at making GIFT City a more attractive destination for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), treasury management firms, and other technology-led businesses. This initiative involves joint efforts to attract major companies by providing high-quality market intelligence and infrastructure support.

The second domestic partnership with Ahmedabad-based CEPT University focuses on long-term sustainability and urban planning. By leveraging the university's research expertise, GIFT City aims to enhance its physical design, urban management, and executive education programs, which are vital for maintaining a modern, world-class business district.

Investor Context and Future Monitorables

For investors and businesses looking at GIFT City, these agreements signal a push to improve the quality of the ecosystem, which is essential for increasing business activity and attracting foreign capital. While these MoUs indicate long-term strategic growth, the tangible impact on the hub’s financial performance will depend on the actual inflow of new GCCs and the success of cross-border investments. Investors may monitor the pace of infrastructure development, the rate of new corporate office acquisitions by global firms, and the regulatory environment that GIFT City continues to foster to support these new alliances.
