Government Unveils Comprehensive Salary Package for Central Employees

The Finance Ministry, through its Department of Financial Services, has rolled out a new Composite Salary Account Package designed for central government employees. This consolidated offering integrates banking, insurance, and digital card benefits into a single framework.

Enhanced Financial Security and Benefits

This initiative aims to bolster the financial well-being and daily convenience of employees across all ranks, including Groups A, B, and C. The package features zero-balance salary accounts with advanced facilities, including free NEFT, RTGS, UPI, and cheque services. Employees will also benefit from concessional interest rates and reduced processing charges on various loans such as housing, education, vehicle, and personal loans. Locker rentals will be waived, and family banking benefits are included.

Significant Insurance Coverage

A key highlight is the robust insurance cover provided. This includes personal accident insurance up to ₹1.5 crore, air accident cover reaching ₹2 crore, and permanent disability cover also up to ₹1.5 crore. Furthermore, a built-in term life insurance of ₹20 lakh is offered with an affordable top-up option, alongside comprehensive health insurance for employees and their families, also featuring a top-up facility.

Digital Card Perks

Employees will receive enhanced debit and credit card benefits, including airport lounge access, reward programs, and cashback offers. These cards come with unlimited transactions and no maintenance charges, adding another layer of convenience.

Strategic Alignment

The launch aligns with the government's vision for 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and the 'Insurance for All by 2047' initiative. Public sector banks are being directed to actively promote these benefits and facilitate the migration of existing salary accounts, with employee consent, to this new comprehensive package.
