Bandhan AMC Appoints Saurabh Jain as Chief Business Officer

Bandhan AMC has named former Standard Chartered executive Saurabh Jain as its new Chief Business Officer. The appointment aims to accelerate the firm's expansion in retail and high-net-worth segments. This move follows the company’s recent efforts to diversify its product portfolio beyond traditional mutual funds into alternative investment strategies.

Bandhan Asset Management Company (AMC) has announced the appointment of Saurabh Jain as its Chief Business Officer to lead the firm’s next phase of growth. Jain brings over two decades of experience in the financial services industry, having previously served as the Managing Director and Head of Wealth Management and Affluent Client Segments at Standard Chartered Bank India. He will succeed Gaurab Parija, who previously led the company’s sales and distribution network.

Strategic Focus on Client Expansion

The appointment is part of a larger strategy to strengthen Bandhan AMC’s presence across key investor segments, including retail investors, institutions, high-net-worth individuals, and family offices. Before his time at Standard Chartered, Jain held leadership positions at major financial institutions such as HDFC Bank and Citibank, gaining extensive experience in product management, private banking, and branch-level operations. As a Chartered Accountant, he is expected to integrate his expertise into the company's broader sales franchise.

Diversification and Market Presence

Bandhan AMC has been actively moving to reduce its reliance on traditional mutual fund products. The company has expanded its offerings to include alternative investment strategies, portfolio management services, and international investment solutions. This product diversification is designed to capture a wider share of the growing financialization of household savings in India. Currently, the firm maintains a significant footprint, operating across more than 100 cities with a reach extending to nearly 800 locations nationwide. The company manages over 3.5 million folios, serving a mix of individual and institutional clients.

Industry Growth and Future Monitorables

Jain has characterized the current Indian asset management landscape as being at an inflection point, driven by a consistent shift of household savings into financial assets and higher retail participation. For investors, the company's progress will depend on how successfully it can scale its newer business lines while maintaining its market share in the competitive mutual fund space. The primary monitorables for stakeholders going forward include the execution of these new investment strategies, the stability of the distribution network under new leadership, and the firm's ability to maintain its asset base amidst ongoing industry competition.
