Bajaj Housing Finance Q1 Profit Rises 23% to ₹715 Crore

Bajaj Housing Finance reported a 22.6% increase in June quarter net profit to ₹715 crore, supported by strong growth in assets and lower loan provisions. The company’s total assets under management grew 24% to ₹1.49 lakh crore, reflecting steady expansion in the housing loan market.

Bajaj Housing Finance Ltd. has reported a strong performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, with a 22.6% year-on-year increase in net profit. The company’s profit stood at ₹715 crore, up from ₹583 crore in the same period last year. This growth was largely driven by sustained demand in the housing loan sector and a significant reduction in money set aside for potential loan losses.

Revenue and Operational Gains

The company’s net interest income, which is the difference between interest earned from loans and interest paid to depositors, grew by 9% to ₹968 crore. Total revenue for the quarter reached ₹3,063 crore, marking a 17.2% rise compared to the ₹2,613 crore reported in the same quarter last year. A key factor behind this improved bottom line was enhanced operational efficiency, with the ratio of operating expenses to net total income falling to 19.6% from 21.2% a year ago.

Asset Quality and Portfolio Growth

Assets under management (AUM) expanded by 24% year-on-year, reaching ₹1,49,624 crore. Despite this rapid growth, the company maintained high asset quality. Gross non-performing assets (GNPA), which represent the portion of loans where repayment is overdue, remained stable at 0.29%, a slight improvement from 0.30% in the previous year. Net non-performing assets also saw an improvement, moving to 0.12% from 0.13%.

Loan loss provisions were significantly lower, dropping to ₹16 crore from ₹38 crore a year earlier. This decrease in provisions helped support the overall profit margin for the quarter. Additionally, the company reported a capital adequacy ratio of 21.59%, which reflects its financial strength and ability to support further lending growth while meeting regulatory requirements.

For investors, the key area to monitor in the coming quarters will be the sustainability of this loan growth amid broader interest rate trends. Since housing finance companies often rely on market borrowing to fund their loan books, the cost of funds and the company's ability to maintain its net interest margins will remain important factors. Future updates will likely focus on whether the company can maintain its low level of bad loans as the overall portfolio size continues to grow.
