Aurrevia Launches AIF With $10M Kothari Family Office Seed Capital

Aurrevia has launched a new Category III Alternative Investment Fund, backed by a $10 million anchor investment from the Kothari Family Office. The fund will use a dual strategy combining value investing with momentum analysis for public market equities.

Aurrevia, an investment platform for public markets, has entered the alternative investment space with the launch of its Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). The launch is backed by a $10 million anchor commitment from the Kothari Family Office, which invested through its investment arm, Aarii Ventures.

Investment Strategy and Portfolio Approach

The new fund employs what the company calls a Techno-Value strategy. This approach combines deep-value investing—which focuses on identifying undervalued stocks—with momentum trading, which seeks to capitalize on upward price trends in the market. The management team aims to integrate fundamental analysis and valuation assessments to build the portfolio. Aurrevia has also introduced a negative-screening policy, meaning the fund will not invest in companies involved in sectors such as tobacco, alcohol, gambling, or the meat and leather industries.

Growth of India's AIF Sector

The launch comes at a time when the AIF industry in India has seen significant interest. According to data from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) as of March 2026, total commitments to all categories of AIFs in the country reached ₹16.94 lakh crore. Of that total, Category III funds, which are permitted to use more complex trading strategies including derivatives, accounted for ₹3.15 lakh crore. While commitment figures represent the amount of capital pledged by investors, the total actual capital raised by AIFs stood at ₹7.03 lakh crore by the same period, with Category III funds contributing approximately ₹2 lakh crore. Investors should note that commitments differ from actual capital deployed, as the latter depends on the fund's investment pace and market conditions.

Leadership and Operational Focus

Aurrevia is led by founder and Chief Investment Officer Sagar Nishar, who also manages investments for Aarii Ventures. Co-founder Suyog Dhavan, who previously founded Strategic Alpha Wealth, is also part of the leadership team. The management has emphasized the importance of capital protection and disciplined decision-making. As the fund begins operations, the key monitorable for investors will be the actual deployment of this capital and how the combined value-momentum strategy performs across different market cycles. Because this is a private fund rather than a listed company, its performance will not be reflected in daily stock market movements, but it adds to the growing pool of alternative investment options available for sophisticated investors in India.
