Aptus Value Housing Finance posted a 19% jump in quarterly profit to ₹261 crore, supported by a 21% rise in assets under management. Despite the positive results, the company's shares fell over 6% in Friday's trading session as investors responded to the report.
Aptus Value Housing Finance, a lender focused on the affordable housing segment, reported its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company's net profit rose 19 percent year-on-year to ₹261 crore, compared to ₹219 crore in the same period last year. Total income for the quarter reached ₹611 crore, representing a 15 percent increase from the ₹530 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The company’s primary growth metric, assets under management, grew by 21 percent to reach ₹13,648 crore. This expansion was supported by loan disbursements of ₹1,053 crore during the quarter. Management attributed the performance to consistent demand, process improvements, and continued investment in technology.
Branch Network and Expansion Strategy
As part of its growth strategy, the lender added 33 new branches during the quarter, bringing its total network to 372 locations. The company has communicated plans to open another 25 branches in the second quarter of FY27, indicating a continued focus on geographical expansion. This strategy is typical for housing finance companies aiming to increase their penetration in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, though rapid branch additions involve recurring costs that impact operating expenses.
Market Response and Financial Context
Despite the growth in profit and assets, shares of Aptus Value Housing Finance experienced pressure, closing 6.02 percent lower at ₹260.50 on the National Stock Exchange on Friday. In the housing finance sector, market participants often evaluate companies based on net interest margins, asset quality, and the ability to maintain growth without compromising on credit risk.
For investors, the key monitorables will be the company’s ability to manage its cost-to-income ratio as it aggressively adds new branches. Additionally, given the competitive nature of the affordable housing loan market, maintaining stable interest margins against the backdrop of interest rate volatility remains a factor to watch. Future updates will likely center on the execution of the planned branch additions and whether the pace of asset growth can be sustained over the coming quarters without a significant impact on credit quality or profitability.
