Abakkus Buys 5.55% Stake in Dhabriya Polywood as Kacholia Exits

Abakkus Asset Manager has acquired a 5.55% stake in Dhabriya Polywood for Rs 23.32 crore. This purchase coincides with ace investor Ashish Kacholia divesting his nearly 5.32% holding in the company. Following the disclosure, shares of the wall and ceiling panel manufacturer rose 19.55% to Rs 473.6 on the BSE.

Detailed Coverage

Dhabriya Polywood, known for its production of PVC and uPVC wall and ceiling panels, saw a significant shift in its shareholder base on July 23, 2026. Exchange filings revealed that Abakkus Venture Opportunities Fund, led by Sunil Singhania, purchased 6,01,341 shares, representing a 5.55% stake in the firm. The transaction was valued at Rs 23.32 crore, with an average purchase price of Rs 387.8 per share.

This entry by Abakkus occurred simultaneously with an exit by noted market investor Ashish Kacholia. Filings indicate that Kacholia offloaded 5,76,000 shares, effectively liquidating his 5.32% position in the company. Another entity, Surya Vanshi Commotrade, also reduced its exposure by selling 1 lakh shares. The shift in ownership appeared to provide immediate momentum to the stock, which gained 19.55% to close at Rs 473.6 on the BSE. Trading activity was marked by higher-than-average volume as the stock moved past its recent price resistance.

For investors, the primary monitorable remains the business strategy of Dhabriya Polywood, which operates in a competitive segment of building materials and home interior products. The company's financial performance, specifically its ability to maintain profit margins amid fluctuating raw material costs—primarily PVC resins—is critical. Historical data for the sector shows that profitability for manufacturers of home interior products is often sensitive to input costs and the pace of demand in the real estate and renovation markets.

Investors may also track the company's capital allocation and debt levels in upcoming quarterly results. While this stake sale and acquisition reflect changes in institutional positioning, long-term performance will depend on the management's execution of its growth plans and its ability to compete against both organized and unorganized sector players. Monitoring future exchange filings regarding any further changes in promoter or institutional holdings will provide additional clarity on the company's ownership structure.
