AU Small Finance Bank Q2 Profit Rises 53% to ₹858 Crore

AU Small Finance Bank reported a 53% jump in net profit to ₹858 crore for the quarter ended September 2026, driven by a 32% rise in interest income. Asset quality improved, with gross non-performing assets falling to 1.99%. Investors are monitoring the bank's margin stability and capital levels as it continues to expand its loan book.

AU Small Finance Bank announced a solid performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, reporting a net profit of ₹858 crore, up from ₹561 crore in the same period last year. Total income for the quarter reached ₹6,382 crore, supported by a 32% increase in net interest income, which climbed to ₹2,820 crore. This growth reflects the bank's expanding core lending business.

The lender's net interest margin—the key measure of profitability from lending activities—widened to 5.8% compared to 5.5% in the previous year. This improvement indicates that the bank has effectively managed the spread between interest earned on loans and interest paid on deposits, despite volatility in the broader interest rate environment.

Asset quality also showed a clear positive trend. Gross non-performing assets, which measure the portion of loans that are overdue, decreased to 1.99% of total advances, a significant improvement from the 2.41% reported in the same quarter last year. Net non-performing assets also fell to 0.81% from 0.88%, signaling that the bank is managing its credit risks effectively.

The bank's capital position remains strong, with a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 18.54%. While this reflects a marginal dip from the 18.78% recorded a year ago, the figure continues to offer the bank a stable cushion to support its future lending operations and expansion plans.

Management has emphasized a strategy of balancing business growth with prudent lending standards. As the banking sector navigates shifts in liquidity and deposit mobilization, the key focus for investors moving forward will be the bank's ability to maintain these profit margins and manage credit quality while scaling its franchise.
