Detailed Coverage :

Tata Motors announced on Thursday its partnership with THINK Gas to strengthen the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) refuelling infrastructure for long-haul and heavy-duty trucks across India. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two entities. The primary objectives of this collaboration include enhancing infrastructure readiness, increasing awareness about the quality of LNG fuel, and enabling wider adoption of LNG-powered commercial vehicles. This initiative is geared towards accelerating the shift towards cleaner and more decarbonised freight operations in the country.

Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head - Trucks at Tata Motors, emphasized that LNG presents a compelling solution for sustainable freight movement and that the partnership with THINK Gas aims to ensure reliable refuelling access and build confidence among fleet operators. Somil Garg, Senior Vice President and Business Head (LNG Fuel) at THINK Gas, stated that partnering with Tata Motors, a leader in alternative fuel mobility, will help them strategically scale their expansion.

Under the agreement, Tata Motors will work with THINK Gas to identify key freight corridors and logistics clusters for infrastructure expansion. THINK Gas will ensure high standards of fuel quality and supply reliability. Exclusive benefits, including preferential pricing, will be offered to Tata Motors customers.

Impact This partnership is expected to boost the adoption of LNG-powered trucks, benefiting Tata Motors' commercial vehicle segment by providing better infrastructure support. It also supports THINK Gas's expansion in the LNG fuel market. The focus on cleaner fuel aligns with India's decarbonisation goals and may lead to increased sales for Tata Motors in the heavy-duty truck segment. Rating: 7/10
