The operating performance of India's largest passenger car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Hyundai Motor India Limited, in the July-September quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 (Q2 FY26) surpassed the predictions of stock market analysts (brokerages). Profitability remained robust, bolstered by the sale of more premium vehicles (a richer product mix) and disciplined expense management (tighter cost control).

The future outlook for the domestic passenger vehicle (PV) segment is upbeat, with demand expected to improve following recent reductions in the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
