The company is now focusing on licensing its proprietary software, electronic architectures, and Turing AI chips to international automakers. This move is a direct attempt to diversify income streams as the global electric vehicle market becomes increasingly crowded and price-sensitive.
Financial results from the second quarter highlighted the pressure on the company’s core manufacturing business, where vehicle margins dropped to 12.1%. In contrast, the company’s service segment, which includes technology research and development fees, has become a high-margin engine. Revenue from services nearly doubled in the latest quarter, achieving margins of 75.1%. The company recently showcased its general-purpose humanoid robot, IRON, and has set a goal to begin mass production by late 2026, with commercial deliveries anticipated by 2027. This pivot reflects a long-term plan to secure stable revenue sources that are less volatile than the passenger vehicle sector.
