Wheels India Q2 Profit Surges 88% to ₹60 Crore

Wheels India reported an 88% jump in net profit to ₹60 crore for the September quarter, driven by a 36% rise in revenue amid strong US export demand. While the company has strengthened its balance sheet through a recent ₹430 crore fundraise, investors may monitor how it manages inflationary pressures and capacity constraints in the coming months.

Wheels India posted a strong performance for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, with net profit rising to ₹60 crore, up 88% from ₹32 crore in the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹1,723 crore, marking a 36% growth. This uptick was primarily fueled by a 50% year-on-year increase in exports to the United States, where demand for earthmover wheels has been robust.

Export Drivers and Strategic Spending

The company highlighted that a significant portion of this US demand is indirectly linked to the ongoing construction of data centers, which requires substantial heavy machinery and earthmoving equipment. To support its growth strategy and improve financial health, Wheels India completed a ₹430 crore fundraising initiative by the end of September. These proceeds were used primarily to reduce debt, enhancing the company's financial flexibility.

Simultaneously, the company is scaling up its capital spending. For the current fiscal year, Wheels India expects to invest between ₹400 crore and ₹450 crore, a notable jump from its historical average of ₹250 crore. This investment is directed toward removing production bottlenecks and expanding capacity to meet demand across its passenger vehicle, truck, and tractor segments.

Challenges Ahead

Despite the positive quarterly results, management has maintained a cautious outlook for the second half of the fiscal year. The company is navigating inflationary pressures that may impact profit margins. Furthermore, performance in the coming quarters will be measured against a high base from the previous year, when demand was supported by GST 2.0 policy shifts.

While domestic business lines, including air suspension systems and tractor components, continue to perform steadily, the company is still addressing capacity constraints in specific production areas. For shareholders, the key monitorables will be the efficient execution of the planned capital expenditure and the ability to protect margins against rising costs and potential fluctuations in demand during the second half of the year.
