VinFast India Targets ₹10-14 Lakh EV Segment With Three New Models
Overview

VinFast India is shifting focus to the ₹10–14 lakh electric vehicle segment, a move to capture a wider market. The Vietnamese automaker plans three new model launches this year, including a seven-seater MPV. This expansion follows their premium-first strategy and aims to increase their showroom footprint to 75 outlets by 2026, while adapting global models for local conditions.

VinFast Shifts Focus to Mid-Range EV Market

VinFast India is strategically targeting the ₹10–14 lakh price segment for its Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), a deliberate shift to broaden its market reach beyond its current premium offerings. CEO Tapan Ghosh confirmed this focus in an exclusive interaction, stating the company is considering models in this accessible bracket, while explicitly ruling out any sub-₹10 lakh EVs in the medium term.

The company currently retails the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, priced between ₹16.5–26.8 lakh. Ghosh indicated that future launches will prioritize suitability for Indian usage conditions over headline specifications. The automaker is evaluating the potential introduction of smaller global models like the VF4 or VF5, with adaptations tailored for the local market.

Three New Models and Expansion Plans

Beyond compact EVs, VinFast intends to introduce three new models in India this year. The first will be the Limo Green, a premium yet practical seven-seater electric MPV designed for both family and commercial applications. This MPV features a 60.1 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of up to 450 km on a single charge.

VinFast's aggressive retail expansion includes doubling its sales footprint from 35 to 75 showrooms by the end of 2026. This growth will extend into Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities. The company will also leverage its parent Vingroup’s ecosystem to deploy charging infrastructure and all-electric ride-hailing services, aiming to normalize EV adoption by demonstrating confident, large-scale usage.
