VinFast Accelerates India Push with 3 New EVs, Doubled Showroom Target
Electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast India is charting an aggressive growth path for 2024 and beyond, with plans to introduce three new electric models and significantly expand its sales and service network across the country. CEO Tapan Ghosh announced the ambitious strategy on Saturday, signaling a strong commitment to the Indian market.
The company intends to double its physical footprint this year, aiming for 75 showrooms nationwide by the end of 2026. VinFast currently operates 35 showrooms primarily in metro and Tier 1 & 2 cities. The expansion will see the network reach deeper into Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, broadening accessibility for Indian consumers.
The first new model slated for launch is a seven-seater MPV, designed for both family and commercial use. Ghosh emphasized that VinFast's product strategy focuses on practical usage, premium feel, safety, reliability, and long-term value, specifically targeting price-conscious Indian buyers rather than just chasing specifications.
VinFast began local production in Tamil Nadu last year and has already introduced its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs. The company plans to integrate Vingroup's green mobility ecosystem, bringing charging infrastructure and all-electric ride-hailing solutions to India. This holistic approach aims to encourage EV adoption by making them visible and actively used daily, thereby reducing consumer hesitation and fostering brand ambassadorship.
