Hero MotoCorp's electric mobility arm, VIDA, has expanded its VX2 electric scooter lineup with the introduction of the new VX2 Go 3.4 kWh variant. The launch event was graced by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, highlighting the government's focus on electric vehicle adoption. This new model is strategically designed to make electric scooters more accessible and practical for the average Indian consumer, aligning with VIDA's vision of bringing an 'Evooter' to every household.
The VX2 Go 3.4 kWh is equipped with a dual-removable battery setup, providing a real-world range of up to 100 km on a full charge. It delivers 6 kW of peak power and 26 Nm of torque. Riders can choose between Eco and Ride modes, and the scooter has a top speed of 70 km/h. Key design updates for enhanced comfort and utility include a flat floorboard, 27.2 litres of under-seat storage, and suspension specifically tuned for Indian road conditions.
Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer – Emerging Mobility Business Unit at Hero MotoCorp, stated that the new VX2 Go 3.4 kWh is engineered for commuters who prioritize range, efficiency, performance, and practicality. VIDA is also strengthening its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which allows customers to subscribe to batteries instead of buying them, thereby reducing the initial purchase price significantly. With support from over 4,600 charging points and 700 service touchpoints nationwide, VIDA aims to simplify EV ownership.
Priced at ₹1.02 lakh (ex-showroom), the VX2 Go 3.4 kWh will be available at VIDA dealerships starting November 2025. This launch adds to the existing VX2 lineup, which includes the VX2 Go 2.2 kWh and VX2 Plus variants.
Impact This launch is a significant development for the Indian electric two-wheeler market. By offering a competitive range at an accessible price point and leveraging the BaaS model, VIDA aims to capture a larger market share and accelerate EV adoption. For Hero MotoCorp, it marks a crucial step in bolstering its presence and competitiveness in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle segment, addressing key consumer concerns about cost and convenience. Rating: 7/10
Difficult Terms: Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS): A business model where customers pay a recurring fee to use batteries for their electric vehicles, rather than purchasing them outright. This reduces the upfront cost of the EV and offers flexibility. Evooter: A portmanteau likely combining 'EV' (Electric Vehicle) and 'scooter', referring to an electric scooter.
