Automotive component maker Uno Minda aims to reach ₹40,000 crore in revenue by FY30, backed by a ₹1,750 crore expansion plan for FY27. The company is focusing on integrated systems like EV drive units and passenger seating. Investors may watch if this strategy successfully boosts profit margins, which recently tracked slightly below internal guidance.
Uno Minda has outlined a growth strategy aimed at reaching ₹40,000 crore in revenue by the 2030 financial year. To support this target, the automotive component manufacturer has allocated ₹1,750 crore for capital spending in the 2027 financial year. Of this amount, ₹1,100 crore is dedicated to growth initiatives, while the remaining ₹650 crore is set aside for operational maintenance.
The core of the company’s expansion is a shift toward providing integrated systems rather than standalone components. This move is designed to increase the value of content the company captures from each vehicle sold. As Indian consumers increasingly seek premium features like advanced lighting, sunroofs, and high-tech cabin interiors, Uno Minda is positioning itself to benefit from this market trend.
To facilitate this transition, the company is entering strategic partnerships to build specialized capabilities. A 70:30 joint venture with China’s Inovance is developing electric-drive systems, with a new plant near Pune scheduled to begin operations in the second half of FY27. Additionally, a partnership with Japan’s Tachi-S is focused on full passenger-car seating assemblies, with production expected to launch by the fourth quarter of FY28. These efforts are part of a powertrain-agnostic strategy, meaning the company aims to supply components compatible with internal combustion engines, electric vehicles, hybrids, and alternative-fuel vehicles like hydrogen and CNG.
Financial performance remains a key monitorable for shareholders. In the first quarter of FY27, the company reported an EBITDA margin of 10.3 percent. This was slightly lower than the internal guidance range of 10.5 to 11.5 percent, which highlights that investors may need to track whether the company can maintain or improve profitability while undertaking large capital spending. The company continues to invest roughly 4 percent of its revenue into research and development, aiming to localize imported technologies to manage costs and meet domestic requirements.
Future success depends heavily on the efficient execution of new projects and sustained demand for premium automotive features. Investors may follow the commissioning timelines for the new Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facilities and watch for updates on how these new product lines influence the company’s profit margins in the coming quarters.
