Uno Minda Expands Sunroof Output Amid ₹5,287 Cr Capex Plan

Uno Minda is investing ₹85 crore to increase sunroof production at its Haryana facility, part of a larger ₹5,287 crore expansion drive. The company recently posted a 38% jump in quarterly revenue to ₹6,655 crore, driven by demand for premium vehicle features. Investors are now focused on the execution of its 16 ongoing projects and the company's ability to maintain margins while scaling operations.

Uno Minda Ltd has approved an ₹85 crore investment to boost sunroof production at its manufacturing facility in Bawal, Haryana. This expansion is scheduled to be operational by the second quarter of the 2028 fiscal year. The move is part of the company's ambitious ₹5,287 crore capital expenditure program, which covers 16 distinct projects aimed at capturing the rising demand for premium automotive features and electric vehicle components.

As of September 30, 2026, the company had already deployed ₹1,628 crore of this total budget. The broad investment plan includes significant projects like an aluminium casting plant in Hosur and a new facility for two-wheeler alloy wheels in Kharkhoda. These initiatives are designed to help the company benefit from the shift in the Indian market toward higher-value products, such as integrated sunroofs and advanced lighting systems.

The expansion strategy follows a period of strong financial performance. For the quarter ending September 2026, Uno Minda reported a 38.2% increase in consolidated revenue, reaching ₹6,655.42 crore. Net profit also saw a significant rise, coming in at approximately ₹440.81 crore. A major driver of this growth has been the company’s green mobility segment, which focuses on electric and alternative fuel systems, with revenue in this category nearly doubling during the quarter.

While the scale of expansion shows a clear path for growth, investors are paying close attention to the execution of these projects. Managing 16 concurrent investments requires strict control to avoid cost overruns or delays. The company has set a target of achieving a pre-tax return on capital employed of 18% to 20% on this pipeline within three years of production. While revenue is growing rapidly, maintaining profit margins will remain a key factor to monitor as the company balances its high spending with operational costs.

Alongside these business developments, the company has initiated leadership changes, including the appointment of Nitesh Minda as CEO-Designate for the SCS Domain. This transition is part of the firm's broader management focus as it enters this next phase of production capacity growth. The company’s ability to successfully commission these new facilities on schedule will be the next major update for shareholders to track.
