Tata Motors CV Electrifies Truck Lineup, Unveils India's Largest EV Truck Range
Overview

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles has significantly expanded its truck portfolio, spearheading a major push into electric mobility. The company unveiled 16 new models, with a strong emphasis on its electric truck lineup, aiming to capture the growing demand for sustainable logistics solutions. This move positions Tata Motors CV as a leader in India's electric commercial vehicle segment.

Electric Truck Dominance

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles is aggressively pursuing clean mobility, placing electric trucks at the forefront of its latest expansion. The company has rolled out 16 new truck models, with a pronounced focus on its electric offerings in the crucial 6-15 tonne segment. This launch includes five distinct electric truck variants: Ultra E.7, Ultra E.9, Ultra E.12, E.28K, and E.55S. These vehicles are designed for diverse applications, ranging from urban last-mile delivery to mid-haul cargo and construction. The introduction significantly bolsters Tata Motors' presence in the electric commercial vehicle market, catering to fleet operators increasingly prioritizing lower operating costs and emissions compliance.

Expanding Footprint and Production

The new electric lineup establishes Tata Motors CV as offering the most extensive electric truck range between 6 and 15 tonnes in India. The company also signaled its long-term commitment to electrification by confirming plans to launch another electric truck under its new Tata Azura range. Production for 10 of the newly launched trucks, including key electric models, will commence at Tata Motors' Jamshedpur facility in Jharkhand, reinforcing the region's industrial base.

Traditional Offerings and Sales Momentum

Alongside its electric push, Tata Motors CV introduced four new internal combustion engine (ICE) trucks: the Prima 3540.K tipper, Prima 5532, Signa 5532.5, and Ultra T.19. Three of these are built on a new platform engineered for enhanced performance and total cost of ownership. This expansive product rollout coincides with a period of robust sales growth. Tata Motors reported a significant 25% year-on-year increase in commercial vehicle sales for December 2025, reaching 42,508 units compared to 33,875 units in December 2024. This follows a strong November, where sales jumped 29% year-on-year. The third quarter of FY26 also saw a healthy 21% year-on-year rise in CV unit sales.

Sectoral Demand

Heavy commercial vehicles, particularly trucks, led this sales surge, with December HCV truck sales climbing 31% year-on-year to 12,483 units. This demand is driven by sustained activity in the infrastructure and logistics sectors. Tata Motors is also advocating for government support, seeking incentives for entry-level EVs under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, signaling a broader strategy to accelerate EV adoption across different market segments.
