TVS Motor Target Price at Rs 5,300 on Strong FY26 Performance

Emkay Global has reiterated a ‘BUY’ rating on TVS Motor, setting a target of Rs 5,300 following record sales of 5.9 million units in FY26. The broker highlights the company's rising EV market share and improved profit margins as key drivers. Additionally, investors should track the upcoming redemption of preference shares on August 21, 2026.

Emkay Global has maintained its positive outlook on TVS Motor Company, setting a target price of Rs 5,300. This assessment follows a strong performance in the financial year 2026, where the company recorded its highest-ever sales of 5.9 million units. Analysts point to the firm’s successful execution of its expansion plans as a primary reason for this optimism.

Growth in EV and Premium Segments

TVS Motor has successfully increased its global standing, moving up to become the world’s third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer. A core part of this growth strategy has been a focus on premium products—moving toward higher-value bikes—and a strong push into the electric vehicle space. The company’s electric vehicle division has reached a significant milestone, achieving a 24.4% market share in FY26. Brands like Apache, Jupiter, and iQube continue to be central to its diverse product portfolio.

The company’s financial health has also shown a positive trend. The operating profit margin for the automobile business has improved to 10.84% in FY26, up from 8.62% in FY23. This expansion indicates that the company is effectively managing its costs while increasing its focus on higher-margin, premium vehicles.

Important Corporate Action

Beyond operating performance, investors should note an upcoming corporate action. The company has fixed August 21, 2026, as the record date for the redemption of its 6% cumulative non-convertible redeemable preference shares. The actual payment to shareholders is scheduled for September 1, 2026. This is a specific event that existing shareholders may want to monitor.

Risks and Market Challenges

While the company has shown consistent growth, investors should also consider the potential risks. The two-wheeler and electric vehicle sectors remain highly competitive. Any aggressive pricing or market strategies from rivals could impact demand or market share. Furthermore, the company is exposed to global macroeconomic pressures. Factors like currency fluctuations and economic instability in key export markets could pose challenges to future growth.

Looking ahead, the main monitorables for investors will be whether the company can maintain its profit margins while scaling up its electric vehicle production. The ability to navigate the complex, evolving requirements of the electric vehicle market, alongside consistent demand for its premium two-wheeler lineup, will likely determine the stock's future trajectory.
