TVS Motor Company, led by Chairman Sudarshan Venu, is significantly expanding its global footprint with a strategic focus on industrialized European markets, including planned entries into Spain and Portugal. This follows the company's debut at the EICMA 2025 exhibition, where it showcased six new products across internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric powertrains.
The unveiled concepts and models include the TVS Tangent RR Concept (supersport bike), TVS eFX three O (electric motorcycle concept), TVS M1-S (first electric maxi-scooter), TVS Apache RTX 300 (adventure tourer), TVS X (born-electric bike), and TVS RTR HyprStunt Concept (urban sports motorcycle). The TVS Apache RTX 300 is slated for a European release in Q1 2026.
Sudarshan Venu stated that the company is transitioning from its traditional focus on emerging markets to tap 'industrialised markets' where customers appreciate advanced mobility solutions. This strategic shift is supported by an expanding and diverse product portfolio.
TVS Motor is commencing its European push from Italy and plans to extend its reach to Spain and Portugal. This is in addition to its established presence in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, ASEAN, and South Asia.
The company's two-wheeler exports saw a 22.8% growth in 2024-25, reaching 10.9 lakh units, primarily driven by strong performance in Africa and Latin America. Exports contributed 24% to the company's revenues.
TVS Motor also plans to leverage its British brand, Norton, positioning its motorcycles as 'super premium' for the European market, with launches planned in the UK and Europe, followed by India and the US.
Impact: This expansion into a premium market like Europe, coupled with the introduction of new electric and ICE models, is likely to boost TVS Motor Company's brand image, market share, and revenue diversification. It signifies a strong intent to compete on a global stage with advanced technology and product offerings, potentially leading to increased sales volumes and profitability. The success in these new markets could set a precedent for further global expansion. Impact Rating: 8/10
