Steel Strips Wheels Hits Record High After 60% Revenue Jump

Steel Strips Wheels shares surged 19% to a record high of ₹467.30 after the company reported strong second-quarter results. Revenue rose by 60% while profit more than doubled compared to last year. Investors are now monitoring a ₹1,400 crore expansion plan aimed at increasing capacity for alloy wheels and structural components.

Steel Strips Wheels (SSWL) saw its stock price climb 19% to reach an all-time high of ₹467.30 following its latest financial update. The company reported a significant performance for the quarter ending in September 2026, driven by high demand from the automotive sector.

Financial Performance and Market Reaction

The company’s consolidated revenue for the quarter grew by 60.75% to ₹1,929.92 crore compared to the same period last year. Profit after tax saw an even sharper increase, climbing to ₹116.94 crore from ₹35.52 crore. This improvement was supported by better operational efficiency, as profit margins rose to 11.98% from 9.37% a year ago. The market reaction was intense, with over 16.63 million shares traded on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange in a single session, representing about 10.6% of the company's total equity.

Large Scale Expansion Plans

Beyond current results, the company announced a capital spending plan of ₹1,400 crore over the next five years. This investment is intended to grow its footprint in the production of alloy wheels and passenger vehicle steel wheels. The company is also setting up a new hot stamping line to create structural body parts for vehicles. While this move is intended to help the company capture more demand, funding this expansion will require a mix of borrowed money and internal cash. Investors may watch whether this heavy spending affects the company’s debt levels and cash flow in the coming quarters.

Sector Context and External Risks

The company is currently benefiting from large automotive manufacturers increasing their local production efforts. However, the management highlighted a few risks that could affect operations. Global geopolitical tension in West Asia has led to higher oil prices, which can increase shipping and freight costs. Additionally, the company faces potential challenges from trade policies in international markets, such as possible tariff changes in the United States, which could impact the broader export segment for Indian automotive parts.

As the company pushes forward with its new capacity, the key monitorable for shareholders will be the execution of these projects. The ability to manage input costs in a volatile global trade environment while maintaining profit margins will remain a primary focus for the market. Investors may also track management commentary on how the company plans to balance its debt and internal cash reserves as the large expansion program progresses over the next 60 months.
