Spark Minda has announced a ₹1,166 crore investment to build two new manufacturing units in Uttar Pradesh, expected to generate 6,440 jobs. This expansion will scale production of key automotive components like ignition locks and mechatronics, while a separate joint venture with Toyodenso targets advanced switches.
Spark Minda, also known as Minda Corporation, is significantly expanding its manufacturing footprint in Uttar Pradesh. The company has announced an investment of ₹1,166 crore to set up two new production facilities within the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region. These units, to be located in Sector-10 and Sector-24, are designed to boost the production of ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components, and connection systems.
This capital investment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the company’s supply chain efficiency by integrating these new units with its existing operations in the Noida and Greater Noida area. Beyond the new YEIDA facilities, Spark Minda is also moving into more advanced product segments. The company has confirmed a joint venture with Japan-based Toyodenso Co Ltd to produce advanced automotive switches at a new plant in Noida. Operations for this partnership, in which Spark Minda has committed a total of ₹60 crore, are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of the 2027 fiscal year.
The company is undertaking this expansion following a period of strong financial growth. In the 2026 fiscal year, Minda Corporation reported a consolidated revenue of ₹6,185 crore, marking a 22.3% increase compared to the previous year, with a profit of ₹358 crore. This financial performance provides the company with a solid base to fund its current capacity expansion plans.
For investors, the primary focus is on how efficiently the company can execute these large-scale greenfield projects. While expanding capacity is a way to prepare for future demand, large projects carry risks, such as potential delays in construction or cost overruns, which can impact profitability. Furthermore, the automotive component sector is cyclical and relies on the broader health of the vehicle manufacturing industry, which can fluctuate based on consumer demand and economic conditions.
The company’s ability to successfully transition these new facilities into operational status, particularly the joint venture with Toyodenso, will be a key factor to watch. Future updates on the construction progress and the timely launch of operations in early 2027 will provide more clarity on how these investments contribute to the company's long-term production and revenue goals.
