Electric vehicle startup Pure EV has posted a significant financial turnaround in the fiscal year 2025 (FY25). The company's net profit soared to INR 2.5 Cr, a remarkable increase from INR 5 Lakh reported in FY24. This substantial profit growth was supported by a 9% rise in operating revenue, reaching INR 134.9 Cr in FY25 from INR 123.6 Cr in the prior year. Pure EV's core business, the sale of electric vehicles, accounted for over 90% of its operating revenue, bringing in INR 123.3 Cr. Income from battery sales also contributed INR 3 Cr. Founded in 2015 by Nishanth Dongari and Rohit Vadera, Pure EV is known for its range of two-wheeler EVs and energy storage solutions. The company recently converted into a public entity, fueling speculation about its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). While Pure EV has seen a significant increase in its electric two-wheeler registrations, logging 16,347 this year compared to 5,539 in 2024, it still trails market leaders like TVS and Bajaj. The startup managed its expenses effectively, with total expenditure increasing only marginally by 3% to INR 134.2 Cr. Notably, the cost of materials consumed fell by 10%, and employee benefits cost decreased by 26%, though advertising costs saw a significant jump of 2.3X to INR 7.8 Cr.
Impact: This news indicates robust growth and potential in the Indian EV sector, attracting investor interest and possibly influencing the valuation of other EV startups and listed companies. Pure EV's strong financial performance and public entity conversion enhance its profile for a future IPO, potentially injecting new capital into the competitive EV market. The focus on cost control while increasing marketing spend suggests a strategic push for market share. Rating: 8/10
