Ola Electric Mobility shares dropped 6% on Monday after reporting a 45% year-on-year decline in Q1 revenue to ₹455 crore. Although net losses narrowed to ₹336 crore, the company faced pressure from lower sales volumes and rising competition. Brokerage firm Emkay Global has maintained a 'Sell' rating, warning of potential further downside due to challenges in sustaining growth.
Ola Electric Mobility saw its share price decline by 6% during Monday’s trading session, reacting to a challenging first-quarter report for the period ending June 2026. The company’s quarterly revenue fell sharply to ₹455 crore, down 45% from the ₹828 crore reported in the same period last year. This performance has drawn investor concern regarding the company's ability to maintain its top-line growth in a rapidly evolving market.
Sales Volume and Margin Pressures
The decline in revenue was largely driven by a reduction in vehicle deliveries, which fell to 39,192 units from 68,192 units a year ago. While the company did manage to narrow its net loss to ₹336 crore from ₹428 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year, the market sentiment remained cautious. Investors have been focusing on the company's ability to protect its margins while battling for market share.
Although the gross margin improved to 30.5% from 25.8% a year earlier, profit margins remain under pressure. This is partly due to the need to balance competitive pricing with fluctuating raw material costs. Managing these costs while trying to increase sales volume is a difficult balancing act that the company is currently navigating.
Competitive Landscape and Analyst View
The electric two-wheeler segment is becoming increasingly crowded. Ola Electric is facing tougher competition from established manufacturers like TVS Motor and newer players such as Ather Energy, which is expanding its production capacity. This intensifying competition is a major factor that analysts are monitoring.
Following the earnings announcement, brokerage firm Emkay Global reiterated its 'Sell' rating on the stock, setting a target price of ₹30. This implies a potential downside of approximately 27% from recent trading levels. Analysts at the firm expressed concerns regarding the sustainability of the company's recent recovery in sales volumes, highlighting the difficulty of maintaining growth amid the current competitive intensity.
Moving forward, shareholders will likely track the company's monthly delivery figures and management’s efforts to improve operational efficiency. The ability of the company to defend its market position against both new and existing rivals will be a key factor for investors to monitor in the coming quarters.
