Ola Electric's S1 X+ electric scooter has officially received government certification from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT).
This approval confirms the vehicle meets strict safety and performance rules, clearing the way for Ola to bring its homemade 4680 Bharat Cell battery technology to a wider market.
Homegrown Battery Technology Powers S1 X+
The certification confirms that Ola's own 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack works well in the S1 X+ model. Ola points out the battery's high energy density and smart cooling features, which are designed to make long trips practical. This technology is key to easing concerns about running out of charge and making EVs a real choice for more people in India, particularly outside major cities.
Boosting EV Adoption Across India
This government nod means Ola Electric can speed up its EV rollout across India. The S1 X+ (5.2 kWh) offers an impressive 320 km range on a single charge and can hit speeds of 125 km/h, driven by its 11 kW motor. By offering better range, strong performance, and lower prices, Ola intends to remove major obstacles for buyers in the mass EV market. The company's complete control over its supply chain, from battery cells to finished vehicles, supports this broad push. This is expected to boost EV sales well beyond current city hubs.
