Maruti Suzuki to Set Up Advanced Labs at 5 Gujarat ITIs

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. will establish advanced manufacturing labs at five Industrial Training Institutes in Gujarat to train students for the automotive sector. This initiative, part of a state government partnership, strengthens the company's workforce pipeline as it scales manufacturing. The automaker now supports 31 ITIs and operates 23 advanced labs across India.

What Happened

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET), Government of Gujarat, to set up advanced manufacturing laboratories at five Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). These new facilities will be located in Palanpur, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Godhra, and Dahod. The labs aim to provide students with hands-on experience using modern machinery, aligning vocational training with the evolving requirements of the automotive industry.

While this initiative falls under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and skill development efforts, it serves a larger strategic purpose for the automaker. As manufacturing processes become more automated and vehicle technology grows more complex—particularly with the push toward electric and connected vehicles—automakers require a workforce that is already familiar with industrial-grade equipment. With these five new labs, Maruti Suzuki will operate a total of 23 advanced manufacturing labs spread across seven states and union territories, including Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
