Mahindra & Mahindra, renowned as the world's largest tractor producer by volume, has unveiled its future vision for sustainable agriculture at Agrovision 2025 in Nagpur by presenting a cutting-edge lineup of alternate fuel tractors and technologies. These innovations, developed at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, include a new CNG/CBG tractor, an Ethanol Flex Fuel Tractor Engine, and an Electric Tractor.
This strategic display underscores Mahindra's commitment to spearheading India's transition to cleaner energy solutions in the farm sector. Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra's Farm Equipment Business, emphasized that these advancements are crucial for shaping the future of Indian agriculture into a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable ecosystem, aligning with the Government of India’s ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
The Electric Tractor is built upon the global Mahindra OJA platform, engineered to reduce operating costs, deliver superior torque, and enhance overall efficiency, offering the convenience of fast charging. The CNG/CBG tractor provides operational flexibility, capable of running on Compressed Natural Gas, Compressed Biogas, or a dual-fuel system combining diesel and CNG. The Ethanol Flex Fuel Engine is a versatile solution, designed to operate on ethanol derived from a wide array of sources, including sugarcane, maize, maize husk, plant stubble, and other farm-based byproducts.
Mahindra also featured its extensive range of reliable diesel-powered 2WD and 4WD tractors, alongside farm implements from both the Mahindra and Swaraj brands.
