Mahindra & Mahindra reported record total vehicle sales of 131,109 units in October 2026, a 9% year-on-year increase driven by strong SUV demand. While automotive exports and three-wheeler sales showed strong growth, the company faced a 13% decline in domestic tractor sales due to the timing shift of the Diwali festival.
Mahindra & Mahindra recorded its highest-ever monthly sales figure in October 2026, with total vehicle dispatches reaching 131,109 units. This represents a 9% growth compared to October 2025. The performance was led by record-breaking demand for the company’s SUV portfolio, which remains a key contributor to its automotive revenue.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales, primarily comprising SUVs, climbed to an all-time monthly high of 73,338 units. This reflects a 2% growth year-on-year, indicating sustained consumer appetite for the company's refreshed SUV range. Management has noted that portfolio updates continue to support momentum in this competitive segment, which is crucial for maintaining profitability.
Beyond passenger vehicles, the company saw significant strength in its export and small commercial categories. Automotive exports surged by 77% to 7,102 units, reflecting a healthy demand trend in international markets. Additionally, the three-wheeler segment, which includes the company's electric vehicle fleet, performed well with a 38% increase in sales to 17,632 units. The commercial vehicle category also saw a moderate rise of 4% to 33,037 units.
While the automotive division reported record numbers, the Farm Equipment sector faced a different trajectory. Domestic tractor sales fell by 13% to 62,626 units. This decline is largely attributed to the shift in the festive calendar, as Diwali fell in November this year compared to October in the previous year. Investors often track tractor sales as a proxy for rural economic health, and the timing of festivals typically creates variations in monthly data that do not necessarily reflect long-term demand trends.
Looking ahead, the primary monitorables for investors include the stability of SUV demand heading into the end of the year and the recovery pace of the farm equipment segment post-Diwali. While SUV strength provides a solid revenue base, the company remains sensitive to broader economic factors, including potential fluctuations in global commodity prices and any shifts in rural demand patterns that could affect the farm machinery business.
