Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced new 'REVX EDGE' variants for its XUV 3XO compact SUV, priced starting at Rs 9.39 lakh. The company also launched a petrol automatic version of the REVX M(O) trim at Rs 9.99 lakh. This expansion aims to sustain sales momentum in India's highly competitive compact SUV market, following the model’s 2.5 lakh cumulative sales milestone.
Mahindra & Mahindra has widened its XUV 3XO portfolio with the launch of new 'REVX EDGE' variants, aiming to attract more buyers in the crowded compact SUV segment. The base petrol manual variant of the new REVX EDGE starts at Rs 9.39 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, the company has added a petrol automatic option for the REVX M(O) trim, priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, providing more flexibility for customers looking for automatic transmissions at accessible price points.
The new REVX EDGE variants offer engine options including a 1.2-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Mahindra has equipped these models with features such as a 26.03 cm HD infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, and a reverse parking camera. Higher-spec REVX EDGE (O) models further include a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, and push-button start to compete with feature-rich offerings from rivals.
Safety remains a key focus for the company in this launch, with 35 standard safety features included across the REVX EDGE range. This suite includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and three-point seat belts for all passengers. By standardizing these safety features, Mahindra is attempting to maintain its value proposition against competitors in a price-sensitive market.
This expansion follows a significant sales milestone for the XUV 3XO range, which the company reported has crossed 2.5 lakh cumulative sales. The ability to refresh the portfolio with new variants is a common strategy in the Indian automotive industry to keep consumer interest high without a full model redesign. As the compact SUV segment continues to be a high-growth area for manufacturers, investors may monitor whether these additions help the company protect its market share against rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, and Hyundai Venue.
For investors, the key monitorable will be how these variants impact the company's overall product mix and profit margins. While adding features can attract volume, the company must also manage input costs and pricing to maintain profitability. Ongoing tracking of sales volumes and the company’s ability to defend its position in the compact SUV space will be important in upcoming quarterly results.
