Choice Institutional Equities has reiterated its 'BUY' rating on Lumax Industries with a target of INR 7,100. This follows strong Q1 FY27 results, where the company posted a 41% jump in net profit, supported by a large INR 25,000 million order book focused on LED lighting solutions.
Choice Institutional Equities has reaffirmed its 'BUY' rating for Lumax Industries, keeping the target price at INR 7,100 per share. This positive stance follows the company's strong financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, highlighting its current momentum in the automotive lighting market.
In its recent Q1 FY27 results, Lumax Industries recorded a consolidated revenue of INR 1,223.2 crore, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period last year. Net profit also showed significant improvement, rising by 41% year-on-year to reach INR 51.1 crore. This growth is largely credited to rising demand from major automotive manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, with revenue contributions from these clients growing by 43% and 68% respectively, compared to the previous year.
The brokerage's optimism is supported by a robust order book worth INR 25,000 million, which accounts for approximately 55% of the company's projected revenue for fiscal year 2026. A critical factor for investors is the company’s strategic shift toward high-value technology. Approximately 90% of the current order book consists of LED lighting products, which aligns with the industry-wide move toward premiumization and advanced lighting systems. Looking ahead, 65% of these orders are scheduled for production starting in FY28, which provides the company with a level of long-term revenue visibility.
Despite this growth, the business faces operational hurdles that investors should watch. Profit margins may come under pressure due to the volatility in raw material and energy prices. Additionally, there is a risk of a lag in passing on these increased costs to original equipment manufacturers. Maintaining steady margins remains a key challenge as the company navigates intense competition and the need to scale up new manufacturing facilities, including the upcoming expansion in Bengaluru.
Investors may monitor how the company manages its capital spending on new capacity while balancing these costs. The upcoming 45th Annual General Meeting, scheduled for August 26, 2026, will likely provide further clarity on the management's outlook and strategic priorities. The company's ability to maintain its margin profile while transitioning toward these advanced lighting systems will be the primary factor for future performance.
