Landmark Cars Rises 12% After New BYD And Mahindra Outlets

Landmark Cars shares climbed 12% to ₹535.80 on Tuesday after announcing new dealership facilities for BYD and Mahindra & Mahindra. The expansion takes the retailer’s national network to 143 locations. With electric vehicles already contributing 30% of sales revenue in the first quarter, the company’s multi-brand approach continues to be a key area for investor attention.

Landmark Cars witnessed a 12% rally on Tuesday, with shares reaching ₹535.80 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The jump followed the company's announcement of new facility openings, including a BYD showroom in Noida and a Mahindra & Mahindra outlet in Kolkata. Trading volume was heavy, with over 3.9 million shares changing hands across major exchanges, highlighting strong investor interest in the firm's latest growth steps.

Network Growth and Strategy

The company’s strategy focuses on deepening its presence in key urban markets where demand for passenger vehicles is consistent. By adding these locations, Landmark Cars has expanded its total footprint to 143 outlets nationwide. This expansion is part of a broader effort to strengthen ties with original equipment manufacturers. By representing multiple brands, the company aims to reduce its reliance on a single carmaker, which can provide some safety if one brand faces a temporary slowdown in sales.

EV Contribution and Revenue Mix

Electric vehicles have become a significant part of the company's business. In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, electric vehicles accounted for 30% of total new car sales revenue. The partnership with brands like BYD and Mahindra & Mahindra is central to this shift toward cleaner energy vehicles. Beyond selling new cars, the business generates revenue through after-sales services, financing solutions, and the sale of pre-owned vehicles. These segments often provide more stable, recurring income compared to the volatile cycle of new car sales.

Risks to Consider

While the expansion highlights growth, investors should be aware of the inherent risks in the automotive retail sector. This business is typically capital-intensive and operates on thin profit margins. The company’s success is closely tied to the production schedules and supply chain health of its brand partners. If manufacturers face delays or if the demand for new vehicles cools due to economic factors, the company’s inventory costs can rise, potentially putting pressure on its cash flow. Furthermore, maintaining and staffing a large network of showrooms across the country requires significant operational spending, and shareholders generally monitor whether this spending translates into consistent profit growth.
