Keto Motors has launched its 9-meter Urbanova KE9 electric bus, designed for urban and institutional transit. The company is using a ₹300 crore investment in Telangana to ramp up production capacity. Keto Motors has officially entered the Indian electric bus segment with the launch of its Urbanova KE9 model. Designed for urban commuting and institutional use, the 9-meter vehicle accommodates up to 31 passengers and features a low-floor design of 900 mm to improve passenger accessibility. The bus is equipped with regenerative braking, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and electro-hydraulic power steering, with a tested range exceeding 150 kilometers on a single charge under load.

Scaling Production in Telangana

This launch is supported by a significant capital commitment of approximately ₹300 crore to the Government of Telangana, announced last year. The funding is directed toward expanding the company’s existing 20-acre production site in Jadcherla and establishing a new greenfield manufacturing unit within the Telangana EV Mobility Valley. According to company leadership, this infrastructure expansion aims to scale production capabilities significantly over the next three years. The move is expected to integrate vehicle manufacturing with charging infrastructure and fleet management software, signaling an attempt to capture more value across the commercial mobility ecosystem.

Strategic Shift and Market Context

While historically focused on vehicle engineering, the company is now positioning itself to provide a full-stack commercial mobility solution. This transition involves combining vehicle supply with digital fleet management and charging hardware. For investors, the success of this strategy depends on the company's ability to compete in a market increasingly dominated by established players like Tata Motors and Olectra Greentech, which have already secured large-scale state transport orders.
