Hero Motors Shares Jump 8% After Q2 Profit Doubles

Hero Motors shares rose 8% as net profit climbed 115.6% to Rs 10.2 crore in the second quarter. The auto component manufacturer also announced plans to increase its stake in UK-based Hewland Engineering to 90% to further integrate its powertrain business.

Hero Motors shares gained nearly 8% on October 14, 2026, as investors reacted to a robust second-quarter performance. The company, which entered the public markets in September 2026, reported a net profit of Rs 10.2 crore for the quarter ending September 2026, marking a 115.6% increase compared to Rs 4.73 crore in the same period last year.

Earnings and Margin Expansion

The company’s revenue grew by 24.9% year-on-year, reaching Rs 319.3 crore for the quarter. Operational efficiency was a significant highlight in the earnings report, with EBITDA surging 92% to Rs 35.9 crore. This performance pushed the company’s operating margin to 11.3%, an expansion of 400 basis points from the previous year. While the year-on-year growth figures are strong, shareholders typically monitor sequential performance as well to understand the stability of cash flows following the company's recent initial public offering.

Strategic Expansion in the UK

Beyond the quarterly financials, Hero Motors announced a strategic move to consolidate its international operations. The company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire an additional 39% stake in its UK-based subsidiary, Hewland Engineering, for approximately £0.60 million. This transaction will raise the parent company's total ownership to 90%. By deepening its control over the UK unit, Hero Motors aims to streamline the integration of advanced powertrain technologies into its broader product portfolio. This acquisition requires no external regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed within six months.

Market Context and Monitorables

As a company with a recent stock market debut, Hero Motors has experienced significant share price volatility, which is common for firms shortly after their IPO. The company serves a global client base, including major automotive brands like BMW, Ducati, and Formula Motorsport, making its performance sensitive to the overall demand cycle in the global two-wheeler and electric hybrid vehicle sectors. For investors, the key monitorables moving forward will include the successful integration of Hewland Engineering, the ability to maintain these expanded profit margins, and the company’s execution on large-scale manufacturing projects against the backdrop of global automotive demand.
