Craftsman Automation Q1 Profit Doubles to ₹150 Crore

Craftsman Automation reported a net profit of ₹150 crore for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, nearly doubling from the previous year. While operational efficiency drove margin gains to 15.8%, analysts remain cautious on the stock's valuation after its recent price rally.

Craftsman Automation has posted a strong financial performance for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, with its consolidated adjusted profit after tax jumping to ₹150 crore. This substantial growth, which represents a near-doubling compared to the same period last year, was supported by solid demand across its various business divisions. The company also reported an EBITDA of ₹380 crore, a metric that tracks operating profitability and outperformed initial market expectations.

Operational Gains and Margin Trends

A notable highlight from the latest results is the improvement in operating profit margins, which rose by 90 basis points year-on-year to 15.8%. This expansion is particularly significant given that the manufacturing sector has been dealing with volatile input costs. The ability to increase margins suggests that the company is managing its internal efficiencies and production costs effectively, which is a critical factor for investors monitoring long-term profitability.

Valuation and Market Context

Despite the robust quarterly results, the stock is currently trading at a valuation of approximately 40.1 times its projected earnings for the 2027 fiscal year and 29 times for the 2028 fiscal year. Following a recent rally in the share price, some market observers, including brokerage firm Motilal Oswal, have maintained a neutral stance on the stock. The brokerage noted that the current share price appears to have already captured many of the positive aspects of the company’s growth trajectory, leading to a target price of ₹9,699. This valuation approach reflects a more cautious view on potential upside, as the stock is priced at 28 times estimated earnings for FY28.

For investors, the primary area of focus will be whether the company can maintain these improved margins in coming quarters as input costs fluctuate. Monitoring the utilization levels of its manufacturing capacity and the stability of demand in its core auto and industrial segments will be essential. Investors should also observe if the company can sustain this level of earnings growth without a significant increase in debt as it continues its business operations. The next updates will likely center on whether the strong operational performance can be sustained throughout the remainder of the fiscal year, and how the market adjusts to the current valuation levels.
