Balkrishna Industries Shares Rise 10% After Q1 Profit Soars

Balkrishna Industries shares climbed 10% to ₹2,295 after reporting a 50% year-on-year jump in first-quarter profit to ₹432 crore. The company’s growth was driven by its strong off-highway tyre segment, while it also announced a dividend of ₹4 per share. Investors are now focusing on the company's aggressive ₹6,800 crore expansion plan scheduled through FY29.

Balkrishna Industries saw its stock price climb 10% to ₹2,295 in intraday trading on July 30, 2026, following the release of strong financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027. The rally marks a notable recovery for the stock, which had touched a low of ₹1,980.90 on July 24, 2026. Trading volumes saw a significant increase, indicating strong interest from market participants following the company's performance update.

Q1 Financial Highlights and Revenue Drivers

For the quarter ending June 30, 2026, the company reported a 25% year-on-year growth in net sales, totaling ₹3,445 crore. The primary driver remains the Off-Highway Tyres (OHT) segment, which accounts for approximately 90% of total sales. This core business saw a volume growth of 16.2%, reaching 93,770 tonnes. Consequently, the profit after tax climbed by 50% to ₹432 crore compared to the same period last year. Management attributed this performance to stable demand in European markets and strong momentum within India.

Strategic Expansion and Portfolio Diversification

Beyond its core OHT business, Balkrishna Industries is diversifying into new segments. The company began supplying Truck Bus Radial Tyres in April 2026 and has launched a portfolio of 2-wheeler tyres for the domestic market. These moves are part of a long-term goal to have on-highway tyre sales contribute 20% to total revenue by FY30.

To support these ambitions, the company is in the midst of a large-scale capital spending program. Since August 2024, it has committed ₹6,800 crore to be spent through FY29. This investment is directed toward increasing OHT tyre capacity to 425,000 MTPA and boosting captive carbon black capacity to 360,000 MTPA. While this investment is intended to drive future growth, it also requires significant cash, which investors often track in relation to the company's debt levels and operational efficiency.

Investor Monitorables

While the Q1 performance is positive, investors may monitor how the company manages the execution of its large-scale capacity expansion. As the company moves into more competitive segments like commercial vehicle and 2-wheeler tyres, it will face established players, making market share gains and pricing strategy critical. Additionally, because the company relies heavily on the OHT segment and exports, fluctuations in global raw material prices and demand from overseas markets remain key variables that could influence future profit margins. The interim dividend of ₹4 per share offers a immediate return, but the long-term impact on cash flow from the ongoing capital spending will be a primary point to watch in upcoming quarterly reports.
