Royal Enfield is set to launch the Bullet 650, having already begun sending the model to dealerships. This strategic step enhances the company's selection of 650cc motorcycles, which currently features popular bikes like the Interceptor and Continental GT. The Bullet 650 was first shown at EICMA 2025, building significant excitement.
Heritage Meets Premium
The arrival of the Bullet 650 represents Royal Enfield's focused effort to introduce one of its most iconic brands into the premium motorcycle segment. This move aligns with a clear trend in India, where consumers are increasingly drawn to motorcycles with larger engines.
Premium Segment Strength
Even with ongoing inflation and supply chain issues affecting material costs and delivery, the demand for premium motorcycles remains strong. Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan noted during Eicher Motors Ltd.'s FY26 earnings call that "only the premium segment is growing." The company sold over 1.1 million motorcycles in India during FY26 and saw a 20% rise in international sales. Interestingly, about one-third of Royal Enfield's customers are under 25, showing a trend of younger buyers interested in aspirational vehicles.
Capacity Expansion for Future Growth
To sustain its growth, Royal Enfield is increasing its manufacturing capacity. The company plans to raise its production capacity to about 1.64 million units by July, with further expansion to nearly 2 million units at its Cheyyar facility. A new manufacturing site is also planned in Andhra Pradesh, highlighting Royal Enfield's long-term expansion plans.
