Detailed Coverage :

India's tea production for September 2025 registered a decline of 5.9 percent, amounting to 159.92 million kilogrammes, a decrease from the 169.93 million kilogrammes produced in September 2024. Data from the Tea Board indicates that production in Assam remained relatively stable, at 94.76 million kilogrammes, compared to 94.03 million kilogrammes in the previous year.

However, West Bengal experienced a notable reduction, with production falling to 40.03 million kilogrammes from 48.35 million kilogrammes. Consequently, North India, which comprises Assam and West Bengal, saw its total production decrease to 138.65 million kilogrammes from 146.96 million kilogrammes.

In South India, the production also saw a slight decrease, recording 21.27 million kilogrammes in September 2025, down from 22.97 million kilogrammes in the same month of the previous year.

Impact This overall decline in tea production can affect the supply chain, potentially leading to increased prices for consumers and impacting the profitability of tea manufacturing companies. It may also influence export volumes and revenues for India, a major tea producer. Investors in the tea sector may see fluctuations in stock performance due to these production changes. Rating: 6/10.
