Sid's Farm Raises ₹81 Crore, Dodla Dairy Buys Strategic Stake

Hyderabad-based dairy startup Sid's Farm has secured ₹81 crore in pre-Series B funding to scale its manufacturing and distribution. Listed entity Dodla Dairy also participated, acquiring a 2% stake for ₹11.6 crore to build a strategic partnership in the segment.

Sid's Farm, a dairy startup operating in southern and western India, has raised over ₹81 crore in a new pre-Series B funding round. The company intends to use these funds to expand its supply chain infrastructure, enhance its production capacity, and increase its distribution reach across current and new markets. The funding round was backed by existing investors, including Omnivore and the Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office, with additional participation from Next Bharat Ventures and LIO.

Strategic Investment from Dodla Dairy

A notable participant in this round is the listed dairy player, Dodla Dairy. In a separate regulatory filing, Dodla Dairy confirmed it has invested approximately ₹11.6 crore to acquire a stake of around 2% in Sid's Farm. The company described this as a strategic, non-controlling investment. For Dodla Dairy, this move provides a window into the operations of a startup that focuses on direct-to-consumer dairy products and rigorous quality testing. Investors may monitor how this partnership evolves and whether it leads to operational synergies between the two companies.

Expansion and Business Model

Since its inception in 2016, Sid's Farm has focused on a model that emphasizes product safety and testing. The company states that its milk undergoes testing for antibiotics, hormones, and adulterants, with batch-specific reports provided to customers. Currently, the startup reports serving over 60,000 families across cities including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, and Vijayawada. It also maintains a network of more than 5,500 dairy farmers, to whom it provides agricultural and veterinary support.

This capital injection follows a $10 million Series A round held in June 2024. The company’s focus remains on scaling its infrastructure to meet the demand for premium, quality-tested dairy products. However, the dairy sector in India is highly competitive, characterized by both large national players and regional cooperatives that often benefit from significant scale and established distribution networks.

For investors, the primary area to watch will be how efficiently Sid's Farm manages its capital spending on new manufacturing and distribution hubs. Scaling a supply chain in the perishable dairy industry requires tight control over logistics and operational costs. While this funding supports growth, the company will need to demonstrate that it can maintain its quality standards while managing the increased operational complexity that comes with a larger geographical footprint and a broader customer base.
