Skyroot Aerospace is scheduled to conduct the maiden orbital test flight of its Vikram-1 rocket from Sriharikota on July 18. Hyderabad-based space technology company Skyroot Aerospace is set to conduct the maiden orbital test flight of its Vikram-1 rocket on July 18. The launch is scheduled to take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota at 11:30 AM. This mission, titled Aagaman, represents a notable step for an Indian private entity as it ventures into the global orbital launch services market.

Vikram-1 Rocket Specifications and Payload

The Vikram-1 vehicle is an all-carbon composite rocket designed to carry payloads of up to 350 kilograms into Low Earth Orbit. Standing at the height of a seven-story building, the rocket features a multi-stage design. For this inaugural flight, the rocket will carry a variety of demonstration payloads, including units from private firms like Grahaa Space, Cosmoserve, and DCubed, alongside Skyroot's own SCOPE technology demonstration unit. The manifest also includes non-commercial items, such as artwork, to showcase the vehicle's versatility.

According to the company, the global market currently faces supply constraints for launch services while the requirement for satellite-enabled communication and data services continues to expand.
