Collins Aerospace, a division of aerospace giant RTX, has officially opened its new Collins India Operations Center (CIOC) in Bengaluru. This facility represents a $100 million investment and is spread across 26 acres at the KIADB Aerospace Park. The CIOC is designed to enhance the company's capacity for manufacturing advanced aerospace components, including aircraft seats, lighting and cargo systems, temperature sensors, communication and navigation systems, water solutions, and evacuation slides, catering to global markets.
The center is equipped with sophisticated manufacturing technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), additive manufacturing, and robotics. Collins Aerospace anticipates employing more than 2,200 employees at this facility by the year 2026. This opening is a significant part of RTX's previously announced $250 million investment strategy for India, with the remaining funds allocated to other engineering and development centers, including one for Pratt & Whitney.
Impact: This development significantly enhances India's standing in the global aerospace manufacturing sector. It promotes the adoption of advanced technologies within the country's industrial base and is poised to create substantial high-skilled employment opportunities. The CIOC is expected to drive operational efficiency and support future expansion for over 70 Collins products worldwide.
