Naval Infrared Suppression System Deal
The agreement gives BHEL the rights to manufacture, install, and operate the gas turbine–infrared suppression system (GT-IRSS) for naval ships. This advanced technology was developed in India by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), which is part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Financial and other terms of the domestic deal were not disclosed.

This technology transfer is a key step in BHEL's diversification into the defense sector. It supports the government's 'Make in India' initiative by boosting domestic capabilities in advanced naval systems and positions BHEL further in defense manufacturing.
