The expansive Phase V(A) project encompasses three key corridors designed to enhance connectivity across the national capital. This ambitious undertaking, cleared by the Union government, is set to receive a substantial Rs 2,940.46 crore contribution from the Delhi government.
Central Vista Corridor Boost
The 9.91-km RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha corridor is the most prominent, featuring nine stations and winding through the Central Vista area. This route aims to connect vital administrative and cultural sites, including Kartavya Bhavan complexes. Officials estimate it will benefit approximately 60,000 government employees and nearly 200,000 daily commuters. The estimated cost for this specific stretch is Rs 9,570.40 crore, with the Delhi government allocating Rs 2,337.24 crore.
Airport and South Delhi Connectivity
Further enhancing transit options, the 2.26-km Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Domestic Airport Terminal-1 corridor will provide direct metro access to the airport, easing surface traffic. Its estimated cost stands at Rs 1,419.64 crore, with Delhi contributing Rs 351.86 crore. Separately, the 3.9 km Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj corridor, costing Rs 1,024.87 crore, will improve connectivity in south and south-east Delhi, supported by a Delhi government contribution of Rs 251.36 crore. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated the project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for advanced mobility.
