Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have formalized a deeper commercial cooperation framework, aiming to bolster their long-standing partnership and unlock new joint business opportunities. The agreement, signed in Mumbai on January 16, 2026, signals a commitment to enhancing air connectivity between India and Singapore and providing passengers with expanded travel options.
Enhanced Connectivity and Passenger Benefits
Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson and SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong finalized the accord. The framework is designed to facilitate coordinated flight schedules, broaden codeshare routes, and enable seamless single-journey bookings across both carriers. This move seeks to leverage their existing extensive codeshare network, which currently covers 61 points in 20 countries, following a significant expansion in 2024.
Strategic Vision
Both airlines anticipate the partnership could extend to integrating corporate travel programs and offering enhanced benefits to members of Air India's Maharaja Club and SIA's KrisFlyer loyalty programs. This strategic alignment aims to capture growing global travel demand by exploring opportunities beyond their core routes.
Future Growth
"Air India remains committed to expanding its global footprint through strategic partnerships," stated Campbell Wilson. Goh Choon Phong described the deal as a "natural evolution" that strengthens bilateral ties and supports air travel and tourism growth. The framework is contingent on regulatory approvals and definitive joint business agreements, with further details to be announced.
