Goa achieved a landmark in 2025, hosting a record 1.08 crore tourists. This influx comprised 1,02,84,608 domestic travelers and 5,17,802 foreign visitors, according to data released by the state Tourism Department. This surge signifies a robust recovery and growth trajectory for the state's tourism sector.
Government's Vision
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte emphasized the government's commitment to "Regenerative Tourism." The strategy aims to attract quality tourism, diversify source markets, and ensure that growth provides lasting benefits to local communities, the environment, and the overall economy. This approach seeks to move beyond mass tourism towards sustainable development.
Sectoral Breakdown
The data reveals sustained growth post-COVID-19, with total arrivals reaching 1.04 crore in 2024 and now surpassing that mark in 2025. Foreign tourist arrivals, driven significantly by charter flights from traditional markets, have played a crucial role. International scheduled flights and cruise tourism also contributed substantially to the inbound numbers throughout the year.
