Swiggy Unveils 'EatRight' Category
Swiggy, the food delivery behemoth, announced Monday the rollout of 'EatRight,' a new umbrella category designed to simplify healthy food ordering for consumers nationwide. This initiative is now accessible in over 50 cities across India, integrating existing health-focused options under a unified discovery experience.
Vast Healthy Food Selection
The EatRight category boasts an extensive selection of over 1.8 million dishes sourced from more than 200,000 partner restaurants. Users can find these options by simply searching for 'EatRight' within the Swiggy application. The company stated that the strategy is rooted in the understanding that healthy eating doesn't necessitate extreme dietary changes, focusing instead on making familiar foods available in healthier preparations.
Food-First, Everyday Solution
Swiggy is positioning EatRight as an accessible, everyday solution rather than a niche diet proposition. The category includes popular dishes like biryanis, tikkas, and bowls prepared with high-protein ingredients. Low-calorie choices such as soups, salads, and khichdi are also featured, alongside no-added-sugar desserts and beverages. Deepak Maloo, Vice President of Food Strategy at Swiggy, highlighted the initiative as a significant step in reimagining healthier food discovery, aiming to make mindful eating a sustainable behavior.
Growing Health Consciousness
Data from Swiggy indicates a surge in health-conscious food ordering. Notably, healthy food orders are growing twice as rapidly in Tier-2 cities compared to metropolitan areas. Cities like Chandigarh, Guwahati, Ludhiana, and Bhubaneswar are leading this growth. Fridays are the most popular day for ordering healthy meals, with no-added-sugar items frequently chosen for breakfast and late-night consumption. Ingredients such as tofu and soya have seen substantial increases in popularity, with smoothies growing 60% in 2025 versus 2024.
Restaurant Partnerships and Trends
Partner restaurants are actively developing new products aligned with these trends, introducing items like high-protein multigrain pizzas and protein-rich coffees. Over 30 brands, including Subway and EatFit, are offering exclusive discounts on EatRight selections, aiming to enhance affordability and encourage adoption of healthier food choices.
