Public Broadcaster Opens Doors to Digital Talent
Prasar Bharati announced Friday the launch of "Creator's Corner," a new initiative that will feature content from digital creators on DD News and its digital platforms. This 30-minute prime-time slot will air five days a week, aiming to integrate independent talent into the public broadcasting ecosystem.
Lucrative Revenue Share Model
In a significant move to support the burgeoning creator economy, the public broadcaster has established a revenue-sharing model. Content creators will receive a substantial 90% of the revenue generated from their programming, with Prasar Bharati retaining the remaining 10%. This model seeks to incentivize quality content production and attract prominent digital influencers.
Modernizing Public Broadcasting
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the initiative as a first step in reforming Prasar Bharati's functioning, with 2026 eyed as a year of significant transformation. The ministry also announced a complete restructuring this year, focusing on a new operating system to shift orientation towards industry participants, creators, and technology. The "Creator's Corner" will showcase content segments ranging from two to ten minutes, with full credit given to the creators and their channels.
