The conversation occurred just a day after the new US envoy, Sergio Gor, officially assumed his duties. Gor immediately signaled his intent to elevate US-India relations, expressing strong support for the trade talks. He indicated that a call concerning the bilateral trade deal would take place Tuesday, underscoring the immediate focus on economic engagement.
Jaishankar confirmed the productive exchange on X, stating, "Discussed trade, critical minerals, nuclear cooperation, defence & energy. Agreed to remain in touch on these and other issues." This comprehensive agenda reflects the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations.

Separately, Jaishankar addressed the role of BRICS, emphasizing its continued importance as a platform for dialogue and development amidst a complex global environment marked by geopolitical, economic, and climate challenges. While unveiling the logo for India's BRICS presidency, he outlined a "humanity-first, people-centric approach" to tackling shared global issues.
